Gah—the way he’s giddy at around the 6 minute mark is hilarious.
“…160 grain…maybe eland…!”
I’ve watched it three times and keep laughing. Good for him!
I emailed the staff at Shooters World powder asking about .416 load data (none available on their site) and they informed me that their 4350 was “the slowest burning of any commercially produced 4350 powder”. They recommended beginning with starting charges for any published 4350 data and work...
It’d depend on condition and how correct it was, of course, but Rock Ola made relatively few (~230k) of the 6.6 million that were made, making it one of the more desirable for serious collectors.
I emailed Parkwest recently about rebarreling a Dakota 10 and got a very nice, very quick reply “yes we can, yes we will! What caliber do you have and what do you want it to be?”
My response hasn’t been replied to yet, but I figured with DSC and Shot Show they’ve been busy. Plus I’m not in a...
I’m reasonably certain TR’s M1903 was a .30-03, not ‘06. A very minor difference but a difference nonetheless. As I recollect he was dissatisfied with the accuracy and sent it back to SA and got a very polite reply of “now Theodore, this is an ‘03, not an ‘06, we checked the accuracy with ‘03...
@ Green Chile I remember this rifle from Gordy & Sons well. I handled it in the store a number of times. It’s a beautiful piece, the black background that G & S does a good job of contrasting some of the wood grain but it’s a deeper, darker piece of walnut and less red that I remember in person...

I’m not going to comment on the merits of the case but I wonder how long most men would stand up to what’s basically the full force of state attorney general aimed at...
Congratulations. I love how the 22” barrel looks on the Big Game. Even if the 24” barrel was the original configuration, the shorter, heavier barrel is far more appealing to the eye.
Agreed. Most ranges have regs banning steel targets entirely for rifles, or caliber limitations targeting .338 Lapua type cartridges (range fan limits) that de facto prohibit medium and large bore rifles from being fired at their facilities.
I’ve shot a .405 in a converted Enfield No. 1 Mk III with the standard twist rate (whatever Winchester used). We swaged down .416” Hornady 400 gr RNs to .411” and charged with Varget (I think)—it shot VERY well. I’m sure a single shot would easily duplicate or better that performance.
He also claims to be “double distinguished,” but there’s no record of a Geoff Miller having any distinguished badge—rifle or pistol—with the CMP. I don’t know why people make grandiose claims of easily verifiable accomplishments.
