Yes actually you are correct. Slings used back in the early 1900’s were sometimes tied on using leather strips. I’m in the process of building a rifle and I am collecting period correct hardware.

North Forks are incredible- bonus is they are bore riders… using less powder and getting higher velocities. My 450#2 shoots 500 gr A Frames at 2,075 using 93.5 gr of RL15 and my 500 gr North Forks travel at 2,135 using 92.0 gr of RL15.

The item I put up including the shipping cost that I paid was in excess of $200 in total. The fun, if you will call it, is to see what the claimant will put up with close to the same value. Typically it’s been something pretty cool that is a definite plus for someone in the group.

The nature of this entire forum has seemed, at least to me, to be made up of members with the highest integrity. It’s tough to put stipulations on the many just because of the few, kind of closes doors on honest new members. I’m not at all condemning your ideas on this - it’s just a grey area...

The initial work is unknown but yes it was meticulously done. I sent the stock to Bruce Farman in WA state to take the cheek piece down a bit (it was too proud), add a little weight to the front end for balance, and install the cross bolts and subsequent refinish.

I agree with you 100% - someone needs to hunt this rifle.
