I’d actually be fine with the .30-06 in good conditions, but weather, longer range and/or a tough angle make me want more mass and velocity. This was a 300 WM 200 grain Terminal Ascent, but the .30-06 would have been fine on this day.

I like the 42/44mm objective size in terms of weight, mounting height and it’s bright enough for me, but Leupold makes the 3-18 with a 50mm objective as well.

Nothing compares to Africa. But I loved hunting in Greenland. Beautiful, primitive, you feel as though you’re hunting in the Pleistocene. We chased caribou, musk ox and Arctic hare. Spectacular.
