Old thread..but the original Kynoch drawings show bullet diameter 0.408.. But did Kynoch load bullets of that diameter in their pre-1967 ammo..? The new .450/400 3 1/4 from Kynamco is loaded with .408 bullets..perhaps discontinued now though..

But why insist on a non-rimmed DR round when there are so many double rifles available with excellent cartridges like 450/400, 450, 470 etc. etc..?

Me thinks that the Ipishi in 450/400NE will sell like hotcakes..provided that the price is resonable.. Ideally it should be chambered in .375 Flanged...but when did you last see a package of .375 Flanged in a gun store..? Not to mention in Africa..? Right..

Two things negative with this, a non rimmed cartridge in a double rifle for DG is a no-no in my book And the chamber pressure is not ideal for a break weapon that is inheretly a weaker design than a bolt..

I think the reputation for inadequate penetration for the .600 is caused by the bum bullets loaded by Kynoch after WW2, some flattened on ele skulls.. I would take a .600 double loaded with a 900 grain Woodleigh/Dzombo or similar and to the 110 cordite velocity any day for elephant hunting.. I...

I have shot several elephant with .458Win., Federal factory 500 grain Woodleigh and handloads with 480 grain DGS.. It sure works..but I prefer to use a double rifle while hunting them..

Back to the OP´s question....advice on .375H&H ammunition for PG.. There are a lot of premium bullets for this round...but what do you really need..? I think it is far too much emphasis on bullets for PG...I have shot lots of PG with .375H&H, most with conventional bullets like Remington 270...

I bought some RWS kegelspitz 300 grainers around 1990...worst overloaded cartridges...the bolt on my ZKK 602 had to be forced up..did not dare to use them.. Since we are at it.. the current .500 Jeffery ammo from Kynoch is as bad in my rifle..useless..Norma is good..
