Took a 300 WBY but shot mine with a 243 WIN. shoulder shot but worked out ok.

yes! thats just how i grew up here on the ranch too. If you are shooting something, keep firing until it is down. i shoot coyotes here on the ranch with a 300 Weatherby but my instinct is still to after the first shot find him in the scope and hit him again.

Agreed. Shot pigs with everything from 243 to 375. All were the same amount of dead. My biggest boar was 350 (wild) shot him with my 300 Weatherby, not so much needed as it's just my pet rifle and I shoot most things with it.

quite the difference in barrels on those two rifles.

I am hardly qualified to chime in but my new 375 has only used 300gr TSX. One hog here so far but I had my PH tell me today to keep shooting and bring the same thing.
