I think I would stick with the 450-400 NE.
I have a Ruger No.1 H 450-400 NE.
Hind sight being what is, if I was starting over buying guns… I would have purchased a Heym or Merkel double rifle to start with.
One of our LGS’s has a used Left handed Ruger African in 375R. It is a older model that is unported, has one cross bolt and the front sling point is on the stock. It was mine and I traded it and $200 for a new model with barrel band sling, two cross bolts and ported.
Reach out to them and ask...
I also agree.
I talked with guys from Hornady at the SHOT show. I was told they are making ammo as fast as they can. Also that Safari Cartridges are a limited run for them.

Axle2010 is right the 416 in the African (right handed) kicks but not all that bad with...
Ruger did make a 416 Ruger African in a left hand configuration.
Model 47152
I search for one daily on the gun boards.
If you hand load you can get some pretty impressive loads in the 330 grain area.
But then there is the allure of the 416 Ruger or even the 458 Ruger Wildcat. A standard...
