What's up with todays' gun shops?

In Flanders-Belgium, there are certainly some tac stores, but in my experience also several where walnut still prevails. They are mainly stores that focus on hunting weapons. Frankly, a large portion of them are the R8. But also sauer, sako, browning.... Also a fair amount of "classics" on the...

Third Bite/Greener Crossbolt On Double Rifles. (Or Lack Thereof)

A third grip is also my preference on DR due to the higher pressures. Purdey, H&H have the hidden grip (mainly prevents the rotary opening motion). Rigby, WR and Heym an extension of the rib (also reinforcement in the longitudinal direction, not going off-face. But at the same time some...

    20,000 Elephants To Germany!

The story also appeared in our state broadcasters site (belgium). Curious to see how it will be picked up. For now, it is neutrally worded. As a politician it is easier to create and solve fake problems. Anyway, make enough storytelling around it so that the masses believe it.

Any point in a 'small' double rifle?

A 9.3x74r in a double can be very versatile. Although rather a medium than a small bore. With a red dot or 1-6 scope you can handle anything up to 100-150y. In some countries enough for a buffalo. Go for it. Shoot a bucket full of rounds at your range or hunts near home. Get to know your weapon...

    Why Buy A Blaser K95?

7x65r is a very classic caliber for this. But a 308 will be fine as well. They are light weapons, if you go for a heavier caliber, maybe consider a kickstop. Rimmed cases are easier to remove from the chamber though, more room to hook your fingernail behind. Kipplaufs are great. Accuracy is...

    Rifle Actions (Ranked)

kipplauf tilt block falling-block + variations Multi lugs bolt Third bite doubles ... Everything that exists now, has existed for a long time. And have all proven themselves. Tolerances are as important as the layout But I guess one with minimum moving parts, so front loader.

.500NE Double Rifle - "Artisan Belge"

It is an 8x57. So is not intended for DG. But never had any problems with it. Bought it second hand at a price I couldn't resist

.500NE Double Rifle - "Artisan Belge"

I have a mount for the back piece of a swing mount. Best pictures I could find on my phone: I don´t remember the brand by heart. But is a pretty standard thing I think. With a red dot the line of sight is higher versus the irons though. But indeed, the red dot just has to be visible somewhere.

A round to make it count

Hunting stories with a bolt action rifle or a double rifle have been passed around many times. And their merits and shortcomings even more so. Single shots get less attention. Although the No. 1 has its fans, stories and a thread here and with extension the other Farquharson models. I myself...

Belgium banning the import of hunting trophies

we are in the world top for elections with only bad choices. it looks like that anyway. there are probably worse situations. it will be a harm reduction approach. remain optimistic. we are also champions in finding methods to circumvent the legislation. it may be so in this case too

Belgium banning the import of hunting trophies

An article about this recently appeared in a Flemish hunting magazine, based on a survey. The following quote gives the essence: YouGov's independent sample survey of more than 7,000 Europeans from five countries (Italy, Denmark, Poland, Spain and Germany) shows that a majority of EU citizens...

Gun fit for double rifles question

I cannot refute whether many neutral (no cast) doubles are made. the merkel 140 8x57 that i have, has cast. it´s one of the last before they completely switched to the 141. ditto for the single shot. and was like that by default. In any case, this is an aspect to check in your search.

Gun fit for double rifles question

the cheep piece is not the only difference. the stock is also made at a slight angle along the axis. the cast. a right-handed stock for a left-handed shooter gives an unnatural position. not impossible, but far from comfortable, also due to recoil absorption in the large callibers. and not...
