Hunting reports

I have been meaning to post a hunt report on here since returning from my hunt in early August this year.

I hunted with Heath Jardine at a camp by Hwange. It is a couple hours drive south of Victoria falls where Heath picked me up. Having read some reports on here and being my first Africa hunt I was unsure how things would turn out. Luckily Heath and everything with the hunt was excellent!

The camp was very comfortable and great food and hospitality. Heath, Judea and Frank were excellent hunters and trackers. It was the dry season so it took a couple days before buffalo moved into the area. In the mean time we had many opportunities for trophy kudu that I did not connect on. On the third day of hunting we had a great spot and stalk on a herd of buffalo and Heath set me up perfect for a trophy of a lifetime! The very next day I was able to get a kudu, which I had not planned on prior to the trip but once I started hunting them I was hooked!

The camp is a prime destination for Elephant which we seen lots every day.

Regarding previous posts I have read, I thought the area was of sufficient size. There is a mine down the road but other than driving past it to get to the area you don't see it.

I believe the area would provide more opportunities for game during the wet season but I was very happy with the results. And remember guys it is wild game hunting. There is no guarantees.

If you are booking you may wish to try and book directly with Zimafrica rather than using Jeff Martinell. He is nothing other than a middle man and provides very little in regards to the hunt. Save the money and book direct.

All the best

Really good pics of your trophies. Love the buf. How wide is he? Kudu is a good looking bull. Congrats on a great hunt. Bruce

Welcome to AH, Blake. Congrats for a great hunt and some very nice trophies.

Thanks for sharing.

Impressive Kudu and buff sir

Beautiful Buffalo and Kudu Blake. Great that you had a good hunt! Is that a Weatherby your shooting? What caliber?

Congratulations on your successful and memorable hunt.

That is a weatherby I am shooting. 338 - 378. I know that more lead for the buff would be better. However the gun works good back home for elk and moose, so it was a compromise.

I was just thinking of posting a few more pictures. The best picture I got of Heath with the buffalo was on his phone so I don't have it. But I do have one with my camera when it was getting dark and a picture back at the skinning shed. Also got a cool picture of Heath and I when I shot the Kudu.

I would highly recommend Heath as a PH. I believe he may be starting his own company now named Pioneer Safaris. Likely based in Bulawayo.

Nice solid boss on the buffalo! Did you get any other plains game besides the Kudu?

Good Morning x84958
I have read your post about Jamy Traut and your hunt in Caprivi. I am planning such a hunt for 2026, Oct with Jamy.
Just a question , because I will combine Caprivi and Panorama for PG, is the daily rate the same the week long, I mean the one for Caprivi or when in Panorama it will be a PG rate ?
thank you and congrats for your story.
Best regards
Philippe from France
