Komati Rivier Gorge, South Africa
The Komati river runs through this 25 000 acre game and cattle ranch. The spectacular and rugged landscape is marked with ancient Inca ruins and rock faces. The Rim of the River gorge is lined with open Savanna and grassland, supported by rolling hills and rivers.

This is probably one of the most diverse eco systems that Spear Safaris has, as hunting concession, in the Mpumalanga Province. Komati river Gorge is about 3 hours drive from Tintshaba camp and Phalaborwa airport.

Species that can be hunted from this camp are, Blesbuck, Bushbuck, Klipspringer, Bush pig, Eland, Red Hartebeest, Kudu, Mountain Reedbuck, Common Reedbuck, Nyala, Blue Wildebeest, Black Wildebeest, Zebra, Grey Duiker, Waterbuck, Oribi, Vaal Rhebuck, Gemsbuck and a short drive away also Springbuck and Lechwe.

Temperature’s here can be very cold to reasonably mild during the day. Temperatures can easily reach freezing point at night. Early morning & evening temperatures are in the 30’s Fahrenheit and midday temperatures rise to the low 60’s Fahrenheit Camp has running Hot and cold water and 220 volt electricity.

Zimbabwe Camps
Camps in Zimbabwe are quite a bit more rustic than South Africa, but still very comfortable. Most camps do not have electricity, but do have generators for extra comfort.Zimbabwe is as beautiful and diverse as South Africa, but as South Africa has all, and more, of the Plains game species occurring there, we hunt Zimbabwe to try a Safari with a difference, maybe with a little more of the old Africa in it.

Leopard hunting is done on Cattle ranches near the Town of Shangani, as this area produces very large Cats. These animals have been hunted for many years, due to their genetically big build and are therefore wily. This makes it a real challenge and a hunt to remember. The most successful method is to bait with either cattle or natural prey, it is a real science, and a Professional Hunters skills are challenged when hunting these cats. Elephant are also in abundance in this region, Bulls migrate to this area from the Hwange National park and spend most of the dry months here. Additional to this we also offer hunts in Government concessions, near Victoria Falls. These areas are surrounded by National Parks, and the free movement of game ensures a good chance at trophy quality animals. The infrastructure here is of such a nature, that a very comfortable and memorable stay is guaranteed. Elephant hunting is done mainly by tracking, Hunting are also offered in the following Countries, where we have ourselves guided and visited. Mozambique, Tanzania, Benin and Cameroon.

Tanzanian Camps
Tanzania is one of the last outposts of hunting in Africa. You will hunt on a free range area of approximately 500 000 acres with pristine natural fauna and flora. The area is exceptionally good for Leopard, Buffalo, Hippo , Crocodile, Nyassa Wildebeest, Kudu, Warthog, Impala, Lichtenstein Hartebeest and Waterbuck. Additional species include Lion, Elephant, Reed buck, Sable and Eland. A short charter flight of 50 minutes is required to get from Dar es Salaam to the hunting area. The camp is located on the banks of the Ruhaha and Rufiji River, offering magnificent views of the African sunset and Hippo frolicking nearby. The Rufiji river also offers excellent tiger fishing.

About Hunting In Southern Africa

South Africa boasts over 28 hunt-able species from the Cape to the Limpopo River, and while its terrain is ideal for excellent plains game hunting, it is also the only country in Africa where all the Big 5 can be hunted. Good accommodation options, roads and general facilities make a South African hunting trip the ideal family getaway. South Africa also has a lot more to offer than hunting, and all prospective visitors should take a couple of days to tour the historic sites, national parks or just go shopping. Spear Safaris can arrange sightseeing trips as well as a visit to one of the highly talented wildlife artists and jewelers in our area.

It is customary to leave gratuities for the trackers, skinners, cooks, camp staff and Professional Hunters, which is always very well received and appreciated. About Hunting In Tanzania

Spear Safaris, in partnership with our old friend Wayne Grant, bought out the Lwafi/Nkamba Game Reserve in central west Tanzania. This concession is one of the largest concessions in Tanzania and boasts around 2300 square miles. The area is bordered on the east by the Katavi National Park and Lake Tanganyika to the west.
This Concession has been “resting” for the last 7 years, with none or very little hunting taking place. 2017 will be the first re-opening of the area. The concession presents some excellent, old Africa style hunting for of the Best Quality Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Hippo, Croc and numerous Plains Game, including the sought after Sitatunga. Hunt-able numbers of Elephant also still exist.
Hunting commences on 1 July where weather will be very pleasant, but could still be slightly wet with long grass.
Tanzania, especially the West, is truly a wilderness experience! There are no resident people in the area, and the wildness is very apparent.

About Hunting In Burkina Faso

Spear Safaris partnered with a resident from the Ivory coast, but someone with great Knowledge of Burkina and its people, to offer this unique hunting opportunity in the Presidential Park, Pama Central north. Previously the camp and Hunting area was reserved for the President and invited guests only.

The area is exceptionally well managed, unlike so many of the areas in private hands. Quotas are small enough that over hunting does not happen and thus we can offer exceptional quality on the trophies there.

The most popular species in Burkina faso are the Western Savannah Buffalo and western Roan. Burkina also has unique species such as Cob, Hartebeest, Harness Bushbuck, Nagor Reedbuck. Most of the concessions have lots of Elephant, great numbers of Lion and Leopard.

West Africa lies in the Northern hemisphere thus making the hunting season different to other southern african countries. Season starts in December and stretches to April. The most pleasant hunting months are january to 15 March, after which it becomes very hot.

Hunting is by means of spot and stalk, tracking or just sneaking through the forests. Shooting from Vehicles are not permitted, neither is ambushing at waterholes. A game scout will be present at al times, during the hunt.

The Presidential Palace, which serves as our camp, is very comfortable with Electricity and air-conditioning in the rooms, a pleasant relief in the latter months. Camps are however not managed and run like Hunting destinations in South Africa and guests should be aware of this.

The best means of travel to Burkina is through Paris with arrival in Ouagadougou in early evening. The first night is spent in a Non tourist but very comfortable Guest Hotel. The following day travel to camp is via road transfer and takes around 4 to 5 hours with a Lunch stop.

Some great trophies that your clients have taken. Bruce

Some of those animals are monsters. Very impressive record on Buffalo as well. I hope to hunt with you someday.

You have fine looking lodging sir. The camps pictured are very inviting.
