List of items which you can enter with in South Africa without being charge import duty.

• Foreign currency: any amount over US$20,000 as long as you declare it with SA customs upon arrival
• Personal allowance: 400 cigarettes
• Personal allowance: 50 cigars
• Personal allowance: 9 ounce of pipe tobacco
• Personal allowance: 2 liters of wine
• Personal allowance: 1 liter of Alcohol
• Other gifts: up to a value of 500 South African Rands

I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
