What's the best way to Fly to Zimbabwe with guns

Concerning the Joburg gun hassle and layover. I guess I have been very lucky (I hope it continues) because my last 7-8 trips using Gracy travel simple. They meet me as I get off plane, handle permits, lead me to City Lodge, come get me next morning, handle things and off I go!

    Possibly dumb sling question

Hitman, I used the Safari sling you mentioned for a total of 61 days in the Cameroon rain forest. It was absolutely my best investment for the forest. I could hang the rifle and grab the muzzle and direct it through the vegetation. By the way, nothing in the chamber, the forest involves miles...

    Possibly dumb sling question

I am using the all rubber sling on both my rifles this year in Zim I have used the quick adjustable nylon slings for years and they have worked good, quickly tighten sling when I want to carry rifle on the final approach. The rubber sling I have been using for a couple of years deer hunting and...

Best Taxidermy for leopards in Houston and Dallas Area?

I'll second B&B taxidermy. Mike Baird and his team have done close to 50 African animals for me, no leopard unfortunately. I have seen at least 20 leopards he has done, fantastic work

    Thermal scope questions

I have a fusion thermal scope and it is unbelievable quality. I really use it for a monocular during deer season just for fun before daylight. What I would really like is an inexpensive clip on for use under 100 yards. Many of us do not record or do anything but shoot hogs under 100 yards!!

505 Gibbs vs 500 Jeffery. Thoughts on these heavy hitters? Alternatives?

I went another way on my 500, 500 A Square. To me this was very easy, BRNO 602, used excellent Weatherby cases which are easily fireformed. Easy to load, easy to make function, simple

    Ideal Jungle Rifle

I have hunted 61 days in the forest. I carried a Sako M995 in 450 Ackley with stainless steel barrel cerakoted. For me the most important thing was how to carry it. I used a Cabela's 2 inch wide safari sling, which allowed the gun to hang on my right side parallel to the ground. I held it by...

I need boots for my first safari

I want to explain my search for my African boots. I had a pair of Rocky Safaris, I guess bought in 1995 or so. I had used them on at least 14 safaris and numerous hunts in North America, and they, for me were perfect, 8 inch, no heel, non aggressive sole, all leather. Rocky stopped making...

I need boots for my first safari

I recently started a post similar to yours about needing a new pair of boots after my rocky safari boots wore out. Best 2x10/2x12ish scope for the money?

I would like to bring up reticle choices. I know I have taken well over 250 animals with a scoped rifle and I have a duplex reticle on everything except on a fairly new custom 35 Whelen, On the Whelen I have a Meopta 1st focal plane with their 4C reticle. The reticle I do not like for very...

    Need new boots

Thanks for the replies. There are a huge number of boot manufacturers out there but few make a boot for Africa. What do I mean? I need a all leather boot with very flexible soles and non aggressive soles.. If you have ever walked 8 hours after an eland in Botswana you know what I mean

    Dangerous Game Scope

I have a Nikon Slughunter on my 500A2 BRNO 602. It is mounted in steel TSR rings on a steel picatinny rail. I just came back from Zim where I took an ancient buff with it. I would say the glass is mediocre compared to the Meopta on my 35 Whelen that I also brought. At least for me, I do not...

    Toughest Scope: Trijicon? Leopold? Others?

Michael at B&M big bore rifles has been rougher on scopes than anyone I know. He swears the Nikon Slughunter scope is the toughest scope ever made. I have one on my 500 A2 and has performed perfectly for a couple of hundred rounds and banging around vehicles in Africa.
