The Marlinin 35 Rem is a fantastic woods rifle and also very nice looking. I bought one in the 1960 and enjoyed it. I only sold it because a friend wanted it more than me. If I needed another great deer/black bear/hog rifle at a very fair price, I would buy this rifle.

What is nice about the T-7 is that you can get more turrets and leave those set up for caliber you reload.

If I were taking a rifle that would be bounced around in a Land Cruiser and posssibly be used to push brush out of the way or taken to Alaska where it would get a few nicks and scars, I would get a used (but not abused) Kreighoff or Heym in 375 H&H. It will have a few scars and some bluing loss...

The three that you mentioned are good, functioning double rifles. While they are not collectables, they function just as well as the higher end doubles. It becomes a manner of taste, budget and how hard they will be treated. I would not take a very nice, high end double on a rough trip.

The Redding T-7 is a great press. I use mine for most of my reloading. While I have not used the Redding powder measure, it looks similar to my Hollywood and should be great to use. I like the micormeter to use to precisely set the volumn of powder.

Huvius is correct. The bullet was the problem of many of the older cartridges that didn't do well. With modern bullets, cartridges like this and the 9.5x56MS would have been much higher rated by people like Taylor. The 280 Ross failures on lions were really the failure of frangible bullets...

Dave, My drilling is a Sauer 3000 in 16/16/7x65R with 2.5x8 Leupold & Krieghoff 22 insert. I also have a Hannes Kipplinger bolt gun in 7x64. Both are excellent cartridges. I believe that the 140 gr is good for deer, hogs, & black bear. The 175 would be good for moose & elk size animals.
