I did the same as my PH was so impressed with them but to import from Denmark to Zim was going to be about $500. He has said since they have seen a lot of use out there

    Anyone use 4 Stable Sticks

I broke two pairs of 4stable sticks (including one pair @SRvet witnessed as above) before I bought Viperflex and these have lasted well with heavy use (including .375 H&H.) In fact, with the 5th leg we zero the DG rifles off them to save building/carrying/storing a bench. As well as for travel...

POLL / You are going on a cape buffalo hunt in Zimbabwe... which caliber do you choose? And Why?

I shot my Zim buff with a .375 as that was the only choice of calibre with the camp rifles, 300 grain Swift A-Frame at 60 yards. It took a few minutes to fully expire but was dead when we found it. I bought a .375 on my return. If I had the choice of the list I'd go .416 as I found the .458...

Carl Zeiss stops scope and binoc production 2026

Here in Europe the new gen Night Vision and Thermal scopes and binoculars dominated by the likes of Hik Micro and Pulsar have made a huge dent in the traditional glass market. Our local gun shop said the sales of the former were up 200% last year and sales of the latter down by over a third...

Suppressing a Dangerous Game rifle - 458 lott

Here in Europe we indeed use moderators extensively -but on deerstalking and vermin rifles. The reduction in recoil obviously helps accuracy when shooting over longer ranges. That's a .308 with one on in the photo. However, I have never seen a European hunter use a mod on a DG rifle though. I...

Serious Safety Concerns for South Africa Hunt

For comparison: in some 'most dangerous cities' list New Orleans is about level with Cape Town/Jo'burg so it's a bit like saying: are you happy to fly to New Orleans, be collected by a guy probably carrying a pistol and driven a hundred miles or more into rural Louisiana, I'm guessing the answer...

Best compact Binocular in $1000.00 price category

Used Swarvoski or Zeiss IMHO I have had a few brands over the past 35 years but now I use Swaro range finding 10x40s for hunting here in the UK but 8x30 Swaro for Africa, used they were under $1,000 (here in the UK) I have used the high end of the range of Vortex and they seemed pretty good

Bringing 2 guns on a dangerous game hunt?

To my mind I would ask myself: is taking two rifles going to be a lot more headache with paperwork or weight? If so then obviously a .404 is relatively flat shooting compared to a .458 or 500 so it depends on what sort of ranges you will be shooting PG at. I don't know the Hwange area (I'm...

    Leopard Hound Hunt Outfitter Recommendations

If I was to hunt a leopard I would do it over hounds. A friend of mine used to take a lot of clients to Zim to hunt with Mark 'Butch' Butcher who helped pioneer the marketing of the sport, he said it was very exciting, especially when the tom went in rocks (rather than a tree) and a terrier was...

Let’s be honest….accuracy off the sticks

They are the only brand I know of where you can do so. It's via two ways: A. they can be positioned so they spread all the way out and B. (if you have more time) they have multiple adjustable studs so you can reduce their length

Let’s be honest….accuracy off the sticks

Here in the UK up to the 1990s we deerstalkers used a single stick to take virtually all shots off and rarely shot beyond 125 yards. In the early 90s some bipod sticks appeared and allowed us to consistently shoot a bit further, the late 90s tripods came along and 200 yds odd was achievable...
