I do want to add and make clear that the 3 springbuck I had mounted were excellent, I could not be happier. My buddy also had several other animals mounted that he is happy with. Unfortunately, this buffalo fell short of the other work that was completed.

I have a pair of these as well, I have mainly used mine for range purposes. One thing nice about these is there are no batteries to be worrying with.

For hunting, Axil Xcor, love these things, really do a wonderful job. If I do not have these with me, I use foam ear plugs. For the range I use some sort of electronic ear muffs.

On oryx I prefer males of the species, on zebras, just say 'when' and I'll shoot whichever one you want taken. lol Over the past two years I have mixed in a couple of cull/management hunts with trophy hunts, I have taken at least 15 zebras. It's been great humor hunting them.

It's heartwarming to see so many people taking their first safari!! I hope you have a wonderful experience, soak it all in. I always take about 75% of my hunting clothes with me in a backpack to carry on. 3 times my luggage never made the trip, don't take that part of it for granted.

Great advice. Many years ago I came home from Cameroon, had something going on in my arm, I bypassed my local hospital and went to WVU infectious disease center, spent 3 days in the hospital receiving liquid IV's, was good to go after that.

I've hunted Limpopo numerous times, never saw mosquitoes and never took any malaria medicine. I'll be back in the Limpopo area this September and I definitely will not be taking malaria medicine.

Hundreds of kudu mounts done every year, this is the first I've heard of mounting kudu as 'tricky at best'. But I spent three years in the 9th grade, what would I know? lol

That's a very nice list you have there. Kudu can be very addicting! Given you are hunting plains game, what caliber of gun are you taking? I have taken a .308 on a lot of my hunts where plains game was what I was after.

Last few I've taken I simply took a picture and walked away. I found getting stuff sent home caused too much anxiety, not to mention the cost was causing me great anxiety, now I go, if I am successful, I take a picture and head to camp.

Oh yes, Dan and Missy, great people. They did a life size black bear, black bear 1/2 mount and they are doing a small black bear rug for me right now. Dan has been to Africa around 15 times so he knows how things are to look. I sure hope you have a great trip and they do a good job for you...

Remember, your Form 4457 MUST be signed in the calendar year you hunt in South Africa. If you have a Form 4457 from any other year than this year, it will NOT work in South Africa.

I took a CBL hunt with the De Klerk's 11 years ago. I had a wonderful hunt, took a very nice male lion along with a very nice 36 7/8" eland. Rooms, camp and hunting areas are top notch, I highly recommend this property and outfitter!

I have full body mounts on bongo, leopard, crocodile, bushbuck, baboon, monkey, black bear, brown bear, some of them take a lot of room. My Dad also wanted to show off the stripes on a kudu so he took an additional female and had a rug made out of it.
