Looking forward to this report. My first Africa hunt was with the Nolte’s back in 2014. And Nicolas was my PH also. Was just talking to a friend of mine who was there hunting last month and he said the numbers of kudu, hartebeest and warthog are way down. Hope that’s just temporary. Best of luck...
Managed to get out a couple days this past week. First day was a good pike day.
My 83 year old Pop can still reel them in!
Yesterday we had a good walleye day on a different lake.
They are everywhere. The other day my wife and I were in the Walmart self checkout scanning our groceries. My 17 year old stepdaughter was on the other side waiting for us. I happened to look up and saw this 50-something cowboy and his buddy staring at her backside with big smiles on their faces...
Just picked this book up at a used book store. I have a feeling that in this day and age many people would view it with “Presentism” as @Red Leg mentioned but I think it’ll be interesting.
As for physical books vs ebooks, I much prefer the former. I have so far resisted getting a kindle but I...
You ever see the movie Hot Tub Time Machine? The scene where he pulls his own catheter out cracks me up!
Nice mounts. Post pics when you get them on the wall.
That’s ok. I get it. This thing is about an inch and a half in size. It obstructs nothing and doesn’t distract me at all. But thanks for your sincere concern.
Big Browning fan. Have a 50 year old BLR that I bought used 30 years ago that is the rifle that I use most often when I go hunting. I wouldn’t trade it for the nicest high end rifle. Bought an X-bolt with the wood stock a few years ago to make it a pair. I am really enjoying this rifle as well...
SO MANY great movies. My favourite was Uncommon Valor. I must have watched that movie 20 times. Gene Hackman, Patrick Swayze and Fred Ward all gone now. I don’t use the word icon very often, but Mr. Hackman definitely was. RIP sir. So sad.
First of all please don’t take this as negative criticism, it is purely curiosity on my part and you certainly don’t owe me or anyone else an explanation. But on one hand you don’t like lechwe hunting in South Africa or kudu “hunting” in Texas. Then on the other hand you enthusiastically speak...
I tend to agree with you on the African vs North American game. I’m not as experienced as a lot of the guys on here having only been to Africa twice and taking 14 species, but all died very quickly except for my kudu and springbok. Both due to bad shooting on my part. And both with a .300 Win...
Check out Orion Taxidermy in Moose Jaw. A little far from you but he’s won international awards and does lots of Africa work. He also has an import/export company called Rigel Logistics. He received my shipments from both of my Africa hunts.
I’ve been twice. The taxidermist in Moose Jaw where I live does a LOT of African animals and he also imports the trophies. He is very well known and does extremely excellent work. Quite a few well known people in the hunting community…even the Landy’s from Swamp People! Not as close as Alberta I...
Here comes the most boring post on this thread. First off I can’t think of any cartridge that I hate. There are dozens however that I’m just not interested in. Mainly the European and Weatherby cartridges as well as anything developed after 1980 or so. All good but just hold no interest for me...
I do too if the tats aren’t vulgar or obnoxious. Anybody who doesn’t think nice tattoos are attractive on women needs to check out the Buffalo Birthday Cake thread that was posted today. That lady is a smoke show!!!
I know… let’s get lever gun tattoos! Marlin for you and Browning for me! Lol...
The timing of this thread is spooky for my family and me.
I have vacationed in the Playa del Carmen three times with my ex-wife, 2007, 2008 and 2011. Always felt safe and often left the resorts. Since then I have heard that it’s not as safe anymore.
Now my current wife has been wanting to go...
I have very fond memories of the last day I was down in Amarillo. You were back at work and Brandi was out looking for Seth’s lost cell phone. I was alone at your house watching TV and literally buried in dogs. It was wonderful!!!
In 1990 my brother won a contest to go to Toronto and be a guest host on the MuchMusic TV station alongside the regular host AND the singer from my favourite band….Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. I sent a bunch of my IM swag and he got it autographed for me and I still have the VHS tape that I...
