NAMIBIA: Namibia Chapter Two

Ok so I still wanted a Duiker. All week we had seen only one female. We saw stienbuck all over the place. I got the SCI # 66 for Namibia on the last trip. Donnie took me out on the afternoon of my next to last day looking one more time. It was sunset when his sharp eyes spotted one at the base of a tree at about 60 yards. With grass all around it what I was looking at through the scope was its rear end. Never saw the head. Donie assured me it was a good male so I took a shot. Bang flop! Evidently the animal was looking back over its shoulder at us and my bullet went through the hip and spine exiting the other side and blowing off half of one horn! Still a good trophy and good story so I think I will leave it as is.

Hey it is the story that counts! ;)

Congratulations Charlie!!! Great hunt, thank you for sharing

What a fantastic story and fabulous hunt. Congratulations Charlie!!!

Charlie thanks for this excellent story! The travel part made me nostalgic for our Zim safari year before last.
I love Namibia and the land and the people there. You did a great job showing all of that. What a great and complete safari. I bet you are glad to have booked 14 days. It really worked out!

Congrats sir!!

Yes the 14 days was the way to go on this hunt! Getting the leopard on the seventh day sure took the pressure off and made the rest of the time very relaxing. Delta did a good job for me but the Delta One product does not compare to the Q Suites we had in our Zim Trip Nor did the level of service compare.

By the way I haven’t seen any comments from @Just Gina ! We need to put here on a Namibia Leopard.
As she instructed me to inform guys over on the Iphisi thread.... She is painting the dining room in our new to us moneyp.., um house! Slaving away like a cursed fairy tale princess.

Except her pumpkin turned into a Jeep Wagoneer powered by a V8 Hemi instead of magic mice, and she already had a full closet of slippers and about every other type of footwear one might find on such a classy Southern Belle, er Princess!

Perhaps some day she will write up the story of moving into her dream house and fixing it up how she wants it! She is doing a fabulous job and I try to do what is requested;)

We are closing in on "wheels up" ourselves to Limpopo with Bossie and a couple side trips;) My Safari Princess convinced me we should fly business class ourselves so even looking forward to the travel!

BTW Gina did glance at AH and had over 100 notifications.... So yea she has been a little absent from this community and it may take her a bit to catch up:)

And as for the Leopard, she's planning to get a buffalo this next trip.... And when she goes after another feline version of the Big 5/Dangerous7.... think a bit bigger;)

Congratulations Charlie. You and that #1 did a job on Spots #2. Also some other nice trophies, caracal, duiker, springbok and finally a jackel. A great story and pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Understood! Stay out of the way man! Give her my best.

Charlie I really enjoyed your hunt report, you did a great job of highlighting the country and it's people. Has my looking forward to being back in Namibia next year even more. Don't worry on the hole in your caracal, the taxidermist will be able to fix it and you won't even be able to notice.

Thanks Dave good talking to you the other day!

looks like an awesome trip! congrats and thanks for sharing.

Just getting caught up. Great cat !

Just an all around great report, and successful trip by all accounts. Congrats on the leopard Charlie. I chuckle at myself sitting on my screened porch mimicking your “rebel” yell, then looking around to make sure nobody listening. A successful leopard hunt does that to folks and I lived vicariously through yours during your whole report while waiting on my next safari. Blessings!

Hi Joshlee0518 (please let me know if you are fine being addressed like that),

Thought I would drop you a PM. It is super exciting to plan a hunt and we are more than happy to assist you. Have you given any thought yet to which species you would like to take?

What do you hunt usually and which weapons/calibers are you using?

Look forward to swapping experiences and ideas.

Happy hunting - Daniel
