I love to hunt with my bigger bore rifles. I use them every opportunity I get. I used to load my 450 Ackley with Woodleigh RN 400gn bullets when I hunted in northern Australia. Shot a lot of pigs with this load, though I dont get up north as much as I used to.
My son has seen me out hunting...
I am Australian and have flown in and out of Australia many times with firearms. I use Qantas almost exclusively, so cant talk about any other airline. Never had a major issue using Qantas when flying with guns/ ammo. Qantas does require written approval to fly with ammo. But its just a...
Vertically split mounts are more prone to slipping in my experience, so I have avoided them for years. The best option I have found is some rosin in the rings. Lightly dust both halves of the ring, torque as normal and the scope should stay put.
Because they are not allowed to. Private ownership of firearms is long gone in India. A lot of classic British guns & rifles that are in Australia now came out of India when the ban came into force.
I use ADI 2208 which is Varget in the USA. It is very temperature stable which is much more important to me than ringing the last few FPS out of a load. ADI 2206H (H4895) is another excellent, stable powder that would work well.
Almost 30 years ago, I took my 375 H&H to South Africa for a plains game hunt. I developed a load with the original Barnes X using their 250gn bullet. There was no data from Barnes back then, so I just started with 270gn data and looked for pressure signs while I worked up my load.
That ammo...
Of course, it works fantastically well. It always makes me laugh when you go on a general hunting forum and mention shooting deer something like a 375 H&H and everyone asks if there is any meat left and act like you are shooting a bazooka :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
I have never seen a 500 AHR, let alone used one. But I believe the 500 AHR is one of a number of "improved" versions of the 500 Jeffery case (one of several that use a full size rim rather than a rebated rim). Unless you bought a rifle chambered in 500AHR, I doubt it would be worth the effort of...
Hi mate.
I have renaissance wax on hand but Im interested to give Fluid Film a try. I googled it and they list a liquid and an aerosol can. I am assuming you use the aerosol since that is listed as "formulated from specially processed wool-wax"? Just wanting to check I am looking at the right...
Thanks mate.
I actually have the Rigby book - one of the vey few I already have. I googled the WR book and found the best price is on the WR website. I will add it to my list (y)
Thanks mate. Appreciate your input on this. I thought similar, but was just going from memory - which is increasingly a weak link :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
This came up in my youtube feed yesterday. I thought it was a decent video on how to make a traditional "British best" style oil. I know the different gun houses each have their own recipe for "slacum" or whatever you want to call it, but this seemed like a pretty approachable way to DIY this oil.
