Of the listed calibers, I’d go with the .404 due to improved shootability, for me, over the .416 Rigby, but ended up shooting both my buffalo with a .375 H&H. I actually shot these guns on a timed target array and I was so much more fast and accurate on the second and third shots with the .375...

Mrs. Nomspc and I went gator hunting on Valentine’s Day. Took this old boy, 11’9”, lots of broken teeth, with a suppressed AR in 300 Ham’r, 55 yards broadside in the water through the brain. Hide is at American, skull arrived last night.

What a great rifle. I had the exact same rifle, same vintage as me. The action, trigger and balance of these old M70’s are legendary for a reason.

I’ve been watching this closely as I live here. Lots of anti-hunting sentiment in Collier County, even after the recent fatality. There should be a bear season, managed like deer or alligator seasons.
