    Crossbows???

@rookhawk - that makes sense to me. My "what would i do with a crossbow?" line of thinking is I would still shoot deer at 20-30 yards max but have less chance of them ducking the arrow (er... bolt I guess) However, I would also use it regularly for pig hunting at my buddy's place (about 15...

    Crossbows???

I've also had a deer duck an arrow with my compound bow (pse) at 30 yds. I made the rookie mistake of forgetting not to shoot when their head was down. Was rusty. It was embarrassing but also AMAZING. It was like neo dodging bullets. I'm of the understanding that xbow velocity (400+ fps)...

    Crossbows???

here this thread comes back from the dead MWA-HA-HA Similar to @mdwest - I'm ready to move from a compound bow to the crossbow world. Too many shoulder dislos and they're catching up with me. I'm very interested in the new excalibur hybrid X. No press required to change cables and...

    The pleasure of fine things

I actually laughed out loud at this but. Then my wife asked me what's so funny and I didn't DARE tell her why I was laughing.

    The pleasure of fine things

Love this thread. I'm not much of a watch guy, but I'm a big fan of mechanical achievement. This is a 1964 BMW r50/2 motorcycle. I bought it as a pile of parts in 2008 while I was still at General Electric as a lowly design engineer. I spent 2 years sorting, selling, trading, and building...

    Rifle Sling Recommendation

I have it. Love it for normal hunts involving a lot of walking or climbing. I prefer it to leather and I like using it backpack style. However, it sucks in thorns. The rubber is just soft enough to get punctured and caught up on them. After the first day in S Africa, I took it off.

North Texas Sandhill Crane opening weekend

I'd be up for it. Have never hunted these birds. And they look tasty. Also... That's an impressive dog that will retrieve AND wear goggles.

CWD safe to eat or not?

Fascinating. Thx for the info I dug up info on this as well. They don't denature like typical proteins. Similar to virus "hard casings" that allow them to survive chemical attack, these babies need temperature enough to anneal soft metals to break down. Pretty impressive.

    Suppressors on DG Rifles?

my PH was delighted when he saw i was hunting with a suppressor and said he wished more people used them. It seems there's an ilk here that is hot and bothered that someone on the internet doesn't do it the way they think it should be done. This reminds me of the "when i was in school we...

CWD safe to eat or not?

Very interested in this topic. Virus or bacteria, denatured is denatured. I have a background in genetics and biology and I'm interested to see thoughts on this matter.

    Effective range for a .375 H & H

had to be meters or yards. Unless it was a 6.5 creedmore. Then it would have been miles.
