Day 3 – Who hunts a buffalo in a swamp?! Hyena woke me up a 0400. They sound like an animal feeling sorry for themselves. I guess because they’re so butt ugly. Couldn’t get back to sleep so stumbled out for early coffee. Departed at standard 0530, breaking the pattern of “half hour earlier...

Thank you. Never really tried this writing stuff but with the adventure comes inspiration and it seems to go ok and a little african dust and gin helps it flow. And it makes my nose run. Trying to do some pics here of the impala scrotum gear shift knob and the dense thorns.

Day 2 - Turd Testing Tuesday Today we left 30 mins earlier. PH says we may need to do it again tomorrow. If this continues I guess we'll just stay up all night. Once again, the morning ritual must be observed. Stumble to coffee, talk through the plan, weapons and gear shakedown, regards to...

Short note tonight. As The Band said in "The Weight," my bag is sinkin low and I do believe it's time. Gear wrangling - good question! At customs at CDG, you can check your weapon, ammo, and gear for up to 14 days in their arms locker. It's treated as "still in checked bag status" or...

I'll try to keep up. Got a lunch break today. I am taking notes, but Wi-Fi is only at camp and my typical priority in camp at the end of the day is a gin, a shower, a note to wifey, vittles, and bed. Now that you lot know where you are on the pecking order... ;). I will start on the hunt...

So about that trailer. While the guys were packing 50 lbs of crap into a 30 lb land cruiser, the parking lot guard came by and suggested they buy a trailer. My outfitter found that suggestion... Distasteful. Lol. Later, on the way out to the site, we saw another type of trailer.

You guys are too kind . This is my first thank you to all of the folks here that give copious amounts of knowledge and advice on the travel process. I used Gracy travel as my trip was interwoven with a few other countries for my day job and they've been great. But also the guidance on packing...

    Warning on new Leupold scopes

Let's hope this is a short lived gimmick by Leupold I think they're base in Oregon? Having spent 2+ years on the Southside of Portland I can attest the state gov is insane. Perhaps this is a gov required feature? Looking forward to hearing what they say.

I promise this isn't a Rick Steve's thread. I'm finally flying out of CDG tomorrow evening to JNB. Starting to get excited. But permit me one last plug for a favorite place and local food. Dropped over to Vilnius Lithuania to see some dear old friends. A great low-key old Eastern...

I'll keep the tourism stuff to a dull roar but my daughter graduated this spring so she got to fly over to London for the weekend for a reward. We celebrated with her having a meat pasty from Paddington station, and some pub fish n chips and her first hand-pulled bitter as well as a few...

    Fenced in? Dont think so.

One of my favorite "art in motion" things to watch is a deer jumping a fence from a side view. I let a nice 8 point, 4-5 yr whitetail go just to let him jump the fence a few seasons ago. Early, Misty morning. Then I sat there finishing my coffee with a big dumb grin on my face.
