TSX - You Can't Have It Both Ways!

Moly was notorious for being hygroscopic trapping moisture and other things... It can ruin a barrel unless it is tightly managed. I switched to HBN for that reason.

Best lead expanding mushroom bullet for Buffalo?

I had no trouble bringing it. There are a couple of caveats: Use an agent - Makes a very big difference dealing with customs. Laws - Many of the countries require a minimum caliber Action - A semi-automatic is very unlikely to get through, and never for self-defense. I've only used a single...

Small bell useful in Bear country (MT), what do you think ?

@fourfive8 pretty much nailed the spirit of much of what I was saying overall. With respect to @HankBuck's question, so many guys bring so much baggage up here (mental and physical). Just bring the sh!t that works, and keep your mind and pack light. Every other trinket just adds weight to...

Small bell useful in Bear country (MT), what do you think ?

I definitely get the challenge. And everything is easier to say than do. Just prod them to vocalize what they are doing and why. Impress the reason behind it. It's tough as hell negotiating tough terrain sucking for oxygen, so I do sympathize... but Ryan is right, a bell just doesn't carry...

I’m A Liberal Who Loves Hunting. Allow Me To Change Your Mind

I look at the bright side. Here you have a liberal author that is making a point to a liberal audience that hunting is no more evil than the circle of life. That audience is so disconnected from everything they consume. If she influences some people that think "Likes" are more important...

Small bell useful in Bear country (MT), what do you think ?

In the bush, the risk is getting overloaded with weight and garbage you don't need. That is a pretty high cost. The issue is prioritizing things that really matter over the superfluous. Bear studies have shown the bells just don't have any kind of adverse impact. So, prioritize the things...

Small bell useful in Bear country (MT), what do you think ?

You already have the right answer. Human voice and cracking branches carry in the bush. The bell just won't. You already have the spray and I assume a shotgun (most survey guards I know are required to). Just keep them yakking about some story or another.

    454 Casull on Buffalo

Typically all that velocity is lost on impact. The handgun bullets aren't starting with a speed advantage. Shoot AFrames 150 fps faster, and they still won't penetrate as deeply as a solid. My DG had bullets in the skin on the far side, but no exit. There isn't a ton of margin to play with...

Best lead expanding mushroom bullet for Buffalo?

They work very well. I use the 330 Lehigh's and the 340 CEBs in the 475 Linebaugh, and I've not had any issues with accuracy or terminal performance on big game in Alaska or Africa.

    454 Casull on Buffalo

For DG particularly: CEB or Lehigh WFN solids - hold together, penetrate well, and don't break up - I've had great results with both in the 475 Linebaugh, and I now hunt exclusively with them. Hardcast - Proven to work, but sometimes shatter. A very skilled caster can make a good hunting...

Are we cleaning our guns to death?

All suppressors trap gases and particulates, without exception. Some combinations of suppressor, action type, powder, cartridge, barrel, etc, etc, et al make a real mess, and some less so. I just bring an appropriate Hoppe Bore Snake to "clean it enough", when they start to really carbon...

Are we cleaning our guns to death?

Most of what we think of as a "break in" is nothing more than removing tooling marks. Premium makers don't leave such rough finishes, so they've come to realize it isn't required. Most pro disciplines will have easily removed any marks by the time load development is done.
