You could look for a JC Higgins mod 50 30-06 or 270 as a donor rifle, they used FN mauser actions for those rifles. I used one a few years ago to build my wife's custom 257 Roberts!

Does anyone have a starting load for the 470 Capstick, a 500 grain Swift A-frame and H4895 powder?

I was wondering if anyone had a starting load for the 470 Capstick using a Swift 500 grain A-frame and H4895 powder? I was thinking 77 grains to start with but not sure. Hoping to eventually get to my desired velocity of 2300fps. Any help would be appreciated.

I'll second Varget powder, I've had really good luck using it in the 416 Remington magnum and a 400 grain Swift A-frame. So far I've been lucky enough that the same load works and groups well in all 4 of my 416 Remington mags! It's nice knowing that I can just grab a box of ammo and go hunting...

I can second Tsala Hunting Safaris, they are top notch! I'm hoping to hunt with them in Mozambique sometime after I retire!

I did this hunt with Tsala Hunting Safaris in 2024, they exceeded my expectations! My Brother and I will be Buffalo hunting with them next June and we can't wait to get there!

Leupold really dropped the ball on this scope when they marketed to the tactical shooter. They should have sold it as the best Dangerous game scope they had ever made! They should have also made a version with the German No4 reticle!

For my 470 Capstick build should I go with a Leupold patrol 1-6x24 or the Trijicon 1-6x24 Accupoint with the red triangle post?

I chose this stock blank for the 470 Capstick build!
