Great report so far, has me eager to see the rest the trip. I seen Buzz posted your mega bushbuck and a video of the Kudu what a bull congrats can’t wait to see more! safe travels to SA and have a great rest of your trip!
Welcome!
If your an experience guy than Africa is the ticket! Now even Asia is a pretty big experience and fits right up there with Africa, but they are different as in for me I personally enjoy the African experience more than the Asia experience I did love Pakistan but not more than I’ve...
I have taken several of the tiny's with a 7mm and a 7 saum along with a 375 with a solid never once destroying the capes. I’ve also used a shot gun in Cameroon for blue duiker and a shot gun in SA for a caracal and a barrowed 22 for night critters in SA. If you wanted to take a gun just for the...
Ive had some post covid shippments clear in a good time frame, even my cameroon shippment I got back start of 23 I think was maybe two weeks max but think it was more like 11 days. SO many factors go into this we could all take a guess as why it took 26 days and your cameroon trip 30. Never know...
Yea understand that!
We are talking about goverment officals they do seem to cause alot of delays so as long as you broker was good and no extra fee's were added I guess, I would chalk it up for a longer than normal delay.
I've stayed at the city lodge a number of times waiting to connect the following morning they personally don’t have a service like that but I book all my flights through PWP travel with Patrick Wright and he gets me taken care of and it is very simple an easy. City lodge is nice place to stay...
I agree with 375fox they must have some sort of storage arangments worked out for themslves. But whats more alarming is the 26 days Do you know why they were held up that long?
Part of me thinks maybe the broker didnt have something in order adn thats another reason that you didnt get storage...
Nothing better than planning that first Safari! You all are going to love Africa. Thats a great wish list of species, lots of good outffiters across SA and Namibia that could square you away on a good safari with some options to add some fishing.
For me I've always wanted to get a form fitted hearing protection but dont want to spend hundreds on something I dont end up liking. I dont wear muffs unless on the range but when hunting I just use the little purple and green rocket ear plugs you can buy on amazon, I throw them in when things...
Thanks I appreciate the feed back on the write up. I thought the blinds were super cool, never got a chance to see If I could hit anything out of them but was fun to sit in them, much nicer than just a pop-up.
Here is the Article I recently publisehd in the SCI Safari magazine.
As the plane touched down in Johannesburg it was late evening, but I could feel that early November heat as I walked out of the jet bridge, I knew I was going to be in for a few warm days. The concierge service that Patrick...
Good luck on the trip, the Eastern Cape is a great place to spend a Safari. Cant wait to read a report.
Best now to get Murphy out of the way than on the trip.
safe travels.
Great write up really enjoyed reading, sure got me wishing I was on a flight to Africa right now.
That is a great bushbuk ram and many othe great animals. The spiral horns are some of my favorite.
Im sure there will be many more great trips for you to share with us in the future.
Thanks for...
Mtn_Infantry
said it pretty damn spot on!
For me the ideal would be 470 0r 577 NE from westley richards lol
But reality speaking the work horse 375 works just fine. its a do all caliber and fits the bill in the lighter recoil and can enjoy shooting it much more. I like having a little more...
Congrats on making the dream happen! Thanks for shring your hunt with all of us, it's great to see someone really appreciate having a great experience and not just be caught up in the size of the animal.
Damn this is a wild report. Ive heard some stories, but nothing like this one, thanks for sharing.
Glad you made it out and things didnt get to wild. Congrats on the bears, i'm sure every time you look at them when you get them home or any pictuers you'll relive this crazy story.
Part 1 of Safari #2 flashback.
SCI 2009 was my second year attending the annual Safari Club International - SCI convention and my first year of being a life member. 2009 was also when the finals plans were put in place for my second Safari.
Attending the SCI convention is one of the best...
Welcome to the group!
Super exciting that you’re looking to plan this trip and do it as a graduation gift, I’d say that could be one of the best gifts ever. It would make a good family trip and something that your entire family would enjoy lots of stuff for the wife to experience and do.
Some...
Caprivi is a great place to do a proper elephtant hunt, have a great experience, see lots of elephant, and be apart of giving lots of much needed meat to local comunities. Did a 14 ele hunt there in 2016 would love to go back.
Welcome, I'm never more jealous of someone than when there are getting ready for that first Safari. The greatest feelings in the world. Look forward to seeing how that first safari goes. what part of SA will you be hunting and whats one of your main focus species?
