    Round Chambered…or Not?

So thanks, I actually received a lot of queries on this... "whether rangers in DG areas really do not walk with loaded rifles; are they crazy?" I am not a Sanparks game ranger, but Sanparks Rangers doing guided/trail walks, do not walk with loaded guns - I have done numerous walks with them...

    Round Chambered…or Not?

Interesting regarding so many people loading in DG areas… My pistol, always loaded in kydex holster; pg hunting, depending on rifle, majority of time bolt semi-closed to first notch, not loaded though. If I hunt with someone and not walking in front, not loaded… What is interesting though, is...

How do you guys handle ear protection whilst on safari?

I use plugs, only put them in once close and about to shoot. Downside is if you suddenly walk onto animal it takes some time to get them in, and sometimes I just leave it. This is where the electronic plugs would be great, you can leave them in. Big muffs are to hot and sweaty and yes, cannot...

Malaria Medication Next Week in Limpopo - Take or Not

Depends on where in Limpopo you are going to hunt? Most of Limpopo has no malaria risk. The areas that have Malaria risk are far North East of Limpopo adjacent to KNP. Further it is now winter in SA so mosquitos are less active now.

Where to buy Courtney Selous boots in Zim?

Hi SRvet, you can send Gale an email at outfit@courteneyboot.com and enquire. They also do ship worldwide, definitely to Zim and RSA so should be able to post to Harare if there isn’t a shop that sells it.

    My first 416 finally!

The OP never mentioned old style express sights... The majority of express sights, post probably 1900 can adjust fyi. No need to explain the advantages and need for 3 leaf express sight. Almost all gun manufacturers (Rigby, Heym, CZ etc. except maybe Ruger - maybe hence the reason for the...

    Shoulder vs Euro Mount

There are the jokes about the policemen and pastor's sons. Well my dad has a Taxidermy business in SA and I personally prefer euro mounts, either on wooden plank or plain white skull on a wall (wall color should not be white though). Apart from animals without horns (female majority) zebra and...

    Commercial Mauser vs military Mauser

Ontario I think your problem and the existing stocks problem is all the modifications. Probably the previous stock's owner also had different parts and the stock just did not work. They sold it before or even knowing the importance of the crossbolts. Unfortunately using different parts...

    Giraffe question from newbie

I have had the incredible privilege to have hunted quite a few giraffes amongst others. My dad has a wildlife product business and the size and cost is one of the biggest reasons why they are not hunted. Having said that, for us South Africans, hunting a giraffe offers a great preparation hunt...

    Any gin drinkers here?

My wife loves her gin, and I confess, I do as well. You already received great recommendations. Six Dogs (we like the blue), Inverroche (any), Blind Tiger (we love both the rarely sighted and blue- there seems to be one or both always in our cabinet) Others you can have a look are A Mari Ocean...
