Happy Saturday everyone;

I came across a "deal" for a 1990's manufactured Chapuis Double rifle in .375 H&H magnum. It is used but in very good condition. My concern would be the ejectors and this is where I would welcome advice from those who know more about DR's than I do. If/if the ejectors (see pic #2) eventually fail, does that mean this rifle is worthless? Can the ejectors be fixed/replaced? If not, does the rifle simply become an extractor model? Thank you in advance and a good weekend to all!

In the unlikely event that they should fail, they can be repaired/replaced. It doesn't appear from the picture that it would extract, but I could very well be wrong. JJ Peradeau will be glad to answer your concerns. Unlike me, he is an expert on double rifles and a world class gunsmith.

For what it is worth, if you buy a new Chapuis double rifle from Chamin Arms, you get a lifetime warranty on pretty much any mechanical problem.

I think that says a lot for the reliability of their rifles.

If I liked the rifle and the deal, I would have zero concern and would buy it.

A final point, you can use JJ As a go between for the purchase. Negotiate and come to an agreement with the seller such as he ships the gun to JJ and you hire JJ to do an inspection. If satisfactory, you pay for the rifle and after payment clears, JJ sends you the gun. You pay that shipping. If JJ finds repairs are needed, you can negotiate that between you and the seller or back out. You may have to cover all costs but you would gain a very high comfort level.

Firstly, that is a good looking double and 375H&H ticks the legal box for African big game, so it would make a nice acqusition. And it has a scope, so longer range PG is possible.
Virtually any problem is fixable, but you don't have a problem here! As Action Bob said, a check, which would include a service, would probably be all it needs for very many years. Go for it I say, then use it. And write a report!

The current chapuis iphisi has the same ejector mechanism. Contact a memeber here named tom Leoni, we work together, he is the product manager for chapuis at benelli USA,….he will put your mind completely at ease. If anything goes wrong they are completely fixable.

I can tell you from personal experience the Tom Leoni is honorable man.

BUY THE RIFLE AND A SET OF EJECTORS TO THROW IN THE SAFE TILL/IF YOU EVER NEED THEM.

Thanks again for your support on the Rhodesian Shotgun thread. From the amount of "LIKES" it received, it appears there was only ONE person who objected. Hes also the same one who continually insisted on interjecting his posts that werent relevant to the thread.
