Recommendations for South Africa Handgun Hunt?

We went to RSA last Sept and indeed used a service to get the gun permits done ahead of time. The good thing was that the folks helping us with the permit met us at the airport and took us to the front of the line to get the guns checked out by the police. I took a Super Redhawk and T/C Encore...

Who hunted bear with a knife?

When it comes down to an animal attack such as bear. You have to do with what youve got. Its better to have a knife than no knife. As a last resort a knife may make the difference between life or death. While one good stab may not kill the bear, it may deter it enough to end the attack.

    Extended vs regular chokes

I seem to enjoy the extended chokes best for reasons outlined above but don’t think there is a functional difference. I’ll add that rarely, if a choke was to loosen a bit, it’s easier to detect in the extended format.

    Gaiters or blousing garters?

I've got a pair of Outdoor Vision gaiters. Love them but they definitely add a little heat to my legs. I mainly wear them in colder weather but they make a shorter version that comes a little above the ankle that would probably work good for higher temps.

    Optics thoughts, Leica vs Leupold

I've not used any Leica scopes but any of their binos, rangefinders, or cameras I have used are excellent optically and functionally. I have a Leupold 2.5-8 that has been on my 30-06 pump Rem 7600 for 30 years. Never moved, good as day one. Back when they made them shiny and pretty! Anymore...
