Even though I did end up going R8 route, I am still interested in BRX1. I'm glad that unlike Europe, they do not currently offer it in wood stock or 30-06 caliber in USA, otherwise it would have been difficult to resist :)

Blaser was not helpful. They said that they are "handling" marks which are not covered under warranty. Dealer offered to help get the scratches fixed and it will be "better than new", so I have shipped him the stock today. I thought about not going that route as the the issue was negligible...

I sent a picture to the dealer and also an email to Blaser Group. Let's see what they say. This definitely does not seem normal as I can create scratches with just my nail so I can only imagine how bad it would get in a hunt. I haven't experience similar issues with other rifles with wood stock...

As happy as I am, one thing is really bothering me. As beautiful the stock it, it seems to be really soft and I can already see some scratches. Even if I run my nail over it, it seems to create a scratch. I cannot imagine this being normal for such an expensive stock. It almost seems like it is...

There are many ranches in Texas that offer goats. Looks up Forister Exotics in Rocksping, TX. We do few "meat" hunts there every year. Also, as Poco said, if you just want to try meat, any Halal grocery store in most big cities in USA will have it.

No scope covers? Really? That's sounds like typical German thing.... where you have to pay extra for things that included for free by other manufacturers (I'm looking at your BMW/Merc :cautious:)

What's the general opinion about Blaser scopes? Are they rebranded Zeiss? I was thinking about picking Blaser Infinity 2-12x50 along with my first R8 to have the IC. Are Blaser scopes worth the cost ($2k in this case) or should I get something like Leupold VX-6HD?

Does Blaser come with a certificate that provides details about the grade of wood used? For example if a dealer is saying stock is grade "8", how can I make sure it is?

I really like the idea of the rim-fire conversion on R8 but in practicality I can buy a pretty decent .22 rifle for the cost of the kit :) Though I do like the idea of .233 as I currently only have that caliber in AR15 format and it is soft shooting round so even my 12 year old can shoot it.
