470 NE non solid for elephant?

That is true for folks that don't shoot much... but if you SHOOT... and I do, then reloading saves a significant amount. If I didn't reload my options would be, cut my shooting by 80% or take up knitting... and have you seen the price of wool....

    .223 for Steinbok, Duiker, Klipspringer?

Heavy, awkward and they don't do anything well... they are half-azzed for everything... I have had a few, they keep sounding like a good idea, but come up woefully short in the actual application.

    What's So Great About The 400 H&H?

Anything that allows me to use buckets of brass already in the shop makes me happy... like the 7.62X57, .375 WSM and .358-375 Ruger that I am rocking... it doesn't have to make sense to anyone but me.

I had shot many Brenneke cartridges, including 7X64, 8X64S and 9.3X64. I felt the 8X64 was redundant and sold it off keeping the 7mm & 9.3mm... if I had been sharp that day, I would have went the other way around and kept the 8mm and sold the other two. However, I love my Ruger M77 Brenneke's...

Choosing powders for 458 Lott from Quickload/Gordons Reloading Data?

Big Bore rifles are not paper punchers... I don't worry about target velocity or target pressure, I worry about the "TARGET." Just choose an appropriate powder for your bullet and work up, while you monitor the accuracy carefully. My Lott load in my M77 Mark II RSM is 85 grains of A2520 with...

    Fill this Rifle Gap

You need a .22 cal centerfire and a .35 cal of some sort. A .22-250 would be best all around, but it is hard to argue against the .223 Rem based on availability and cost. For the .35 cal, it is a toss up, .358 Win or .35 Whelen... if you are going to be a single .35 shooter, make it the Whelen...

    .505 Gibbs bullet seating offset

That is almost always caused by buckling the shoulder when seating the bullet. I did not read the whole thread, so bear with me... are you chamfering and deburring the brass? I don't agree... many gun enthusiasts are drawn to big bore cartridges and rifles, but have a hard time justifying indulging those desires to their spouse or even themselves... so they start looking for other potential targets and uses... as in; "This .505 Gibbs would be a perfect hog gun." It is two different rifles.... a blued/Walnut Ruger M77 Mark II and a stainless/Laminate Ruger M77 Mark II, the stainless is now in a B&C stock. The cartridge is a necked down 8X57, which has a greater capacity than would a necked up 7X57.

I did not know Bruce or of Bruce, but as I said, if you are shooting 10K plus rounds at game, you are either a poacher, a terrible shot or a culler... apparently he was the latter. Sad to hear of his passing, he sounds like he was an avid shooter and outdoorsman... a loss to our community.

    .270 vs .280

He said he shot out two .270 barrels and was on the third and shot out one .280 barrel and was on the second... in those cartridges, you are looking at 3-4000 rounds to wear it out (approximately), so I conservatively estimated 8K - 10K rounds total... "ON GAME!" You either have to be in an...
