    Some Model 70 issues

Good write up. The mag box needs a little room to wiggle or it will bind with the receiver. Standard Mauser/M70 stuff. Why don’t they use longer screws? And finally I guess I understand that the MOA trigger must be cheaper for them to make. The old trigger was perfect. Another silly change. Just...

The saga of the Rhodesian Shotgun

The actions of the Rhodesian SAS and men like Darrell Watt were truly epic. If only the truth would have been told, that area would be a much different place today. I am really enjoying the information here. Thanks for compiling it.

1 MOA accuracy less common than you think ?

There are few that will walk up cold to an outdoor range with their tack drivers and put the first 5 rounds IN the 1 MOA bull at 100 as shown. I know most everyone on the Internet can but in real life, no, which was portrayed accurately on the video. If we wanted to reach deeper, most of the...

    9.3x64 Brenneke

You will have to open the bolt face for a X64. I would stick with the X62, or even simpler the 35 Whelen which is the N American version of the X62. I am the long term caretaker for a X64. I have some brass but not a surplus. It’s a fine cartridge, however I wouldn’t do it personally.

    New custom rifle questions

Fierce has a record of QC problems. There are 2 that I know of that went out the door without rifling in the barrel. My understanding is that the older Canadian ones are good to go, the new ones are built in Utah by some online influencer who is just as likely to tell you to pound sand as not if...

    Baldwin Bolt Jeweling?? Problem Help

^This for sure. MIG is great in production fabrication. Fine work? Kinda clumsy. Silver solder works great too, lots of gunsmiths who can’t weld are successful using it. The guy clearly has something going on behind the curtain.

Time to go long on CRF rifles?

There’s one being tested on another forum. Real testing, not gun writer testing. MRC sent it out with some somewhat embarrassing problems that were corrected by the tester. Nothing was hidden from the public. They have been transparent during the process. I am firmly in their corner and wishing...

What tricks to put on light weight 416 rem mag to help reduce recoil

If it tastes like it and smells like it, yes it is. You will go miles and miles to find a custom rifle builder that recommends or uses them. They are/were used on some Winchester Extreme Weathers for a time because they are cheap and available. Their market is for the guy to buy one and bolt on...

What tricks to put on light weight 416 rem mag to help reduce recoil

I installed a Boyd’s on a lefty Zastava Mauser 3-4 years ago. I don’t recall a crossbolt but I could be wrong. The inlet took a lot of work to get it to sit level in the stock. No long term report on its durability as I let the rifle get away. There are plenty of Boyd’s reports about...

What tricks to put on light weight 416 rem mag to help reduce recoil

Anyone who recommends replacing a well fit McMillan fiberglass stock on a heavy recoiling rifle for a Boyd’s laminate (it will split) or a Bell and Carlson (mostly rigid foam) is sniffing glue. [emoji1] If you want to add weight, have a stock fitter add weight. You have the perfect place to...

    Any nighttime predator hunters here?

Excellent info. I live in a high humidity, cool temperature area at sea level. I’m not sure how environmental surroundings factor in. It is rare to have a shot past 100 yards due to the forest. It would be nice to identify heat beyond that range if possible. Thanks all.

My mom has one. It’s been back for service a couple of times in 40 years. Keeps it in one of those boxes that moves around to keep it wound up. She’s in her 70’s now, hardly wears it. Is Blaser Trying To Price Themselves Out Of The American Market???

Don’t have one. I’m sure they are great. There is a million of them that pop up on Gunbroker when I’m looking for something specific. I have zero interest in it and the parade of Blasers is quite frankly a might irritating. Who ever is selling them in the USA must be very well stocked.

Dangerous Game Hunting and the case for bigger not always being better

There’s guys arguing on another popular forum about a M4 being the best brown bear stopper, even though none of them have ever done it. Scope ring recommendation

Those are good holding rings. You might research if they will fit Weavers. Sometimes the lugs for the actual picatinny style are slightly different than Weavers. Usually they work but…. Warne also makes steel bases to fit quite a few actions.

I’m sure you’ll get good advice here. I really like Warne products and have had good luck with them up to .458 win mag. I would use the horizontal rings, not the vertical rings.
