i know this an old thread but the Merkle 140 cannot double fire unless the protective sear is broken. When I bought mine and asap sent it to JJ perodeau he told me it is a great feature they have but many are broken like mine…it was a fairly easy fix

Lou and I had a big bull in terms of size. He almost dwarfed the other elephants. The wind betrayed us. My guess he was 30-35 pounds and clearly the largest one we saw. If they are hunting the same area I got my elephant a month ago that could be him!!! Just remember the average is 15-25 pounds...

To your point, I have been taught by my PH's long ago to walk heel to toe which I then know when having done this I have noisy shoes.

I have since then moved to RL 15.5 given almost identical performance to the IMR3031 yet having exceptional high heat tolerances. This is not to imply on my trips to Africa I ever had any problems with IMR3031

I would still be using it but I sold all of it to the buyer of my 1908 470 NE.

For years I have used IMR3031 with 80 grains using Traders Keith #2 fillers with zero problems and unbelievably light recoil
