I have an M1 carbine, and I agree those look like .30 Carbine bullets. I only buy factory rounds and they’re 108 grains, but I’m intrigued about the FPS pickup from a slightly lighter bullet.

I’ve used this one successfully on two rifles. No problems so far.

Definitely a bubba rifle: my sporterized Carcano with an improvised ghost ring rear sight and front blade made higher with JB Weld. Still, it shoots very well and has been 100% reliable, and I have no qualms about it getting rough treatment afield.

Emptying the pen is the best way to prevent leaks; second best is traveling with a completely full cartridge or ink bladder. If there isn’t any air inside the pen to expand, there isn’t as much chance of a leak. A partially filled pen is the worst option.

Me too. If/when I go on safari, it will be to hunt game that I can’t hunt here and to get an experience, not to prove how wealthy and pampered I am. I can stay in a fancy lodge anywhere. On safari I’d prefer that time and resources go to the hunt.

I’ve never felt a reason to carry a handgun on any of my (North American) hunts. Here in Texas I’d rather carry an extra quart of water than tote a useless handgun & ammo.

Or, if you’d rather not mount a scope, may I recommend finding a receiver peep sight like a Lyman 57 that’s fully adjustable for height and windage? Much, much better than the barrel-mounted military sights.
