    Delta from Atlanta to Joberg

I also suffer from being a tall man in a world built for the "average-sized" (6'7") I have learned that for anything over 10 hours, Business Class is the only way to go. Sell some rifles, work some more overtime, get a paper route, anything to prevent the torture of Economy air travel for me...

Buffalo - Tanzania Tastes on a South African Budget

Sounds sensible to me, however, we have been to Namibia, Botswana, S.A. and Zimbabwe as tourists before, and my wife has this strange idea that she wants to see something new! I would be very happy with a Caprivi strip Buff, but I am only half of the equation.

Buffalo - Tanzania Tastes on a South African Budget

Thanks, I will most definitely be hiring the services of one of the rifle handlers if we decide on S.A. Part of my reason for asking about Tanzania was to maybe avoid the back and forth air travel to S.A. and the costs associated with it. If just going simply to Tanzania, this would eliminate...

Buffalo - Tanzania Tastes on a South African Budget

Hello all, and especially to the outfitters out there. As the title states, I am looking for a Buffalo experience, and will most likely choose an outfitter from one of the many wonderful outfits located in South Africa. However, my wife and I like to travel, and the way we operate is that I go...

Take a look at SeatGuru.com. They have seat maps of the different airlines and the configurations they use. Type in your airline, departure date, and flight #. Then, confirm from the list at the top left of the screen that the same plane as yours has been selected (eg; A350 .vs A380) It's kind...

Who hunts with O/U double rifles, especially Bergstutzen?

I just picked up a Valmet 412s over/under with a set of .308/.308 barrels, and a 20ga/20ga barrel set as well. Not hunted it yet, but got the rifle barrels regulated quite nicely just last week.

    Valmet 412s .308 Double Rifle

Thanks, yes those are 1" squares, at 100 meters. The Valmet has a pretty easy system for regulation. A wedge half-way down the barrels for vertical, and another at the muzzles for horizontal. I was pretty pleased to get that group out of it. The stock in rifle form fits me very well. In shotgun...

    Valmet 412s .308 Double Rifle

Some time ago I asked the Forum members if they had any knowledge of this double rifle system. The rifle in question was chambered in 9.3x74R. It was located across the country, and I just couldn't swing a deal with the owner. I've had a hankering for a double rifle for quite some time, but my...

What is a must-have for Christmas?

Christmas at Fire Station #3 with my work family this year. The boys are in the kitchen, whipping up something undoubtedly bad for me, yet so good for the soul!! They like to take care of their Captain! We'll run a few calls, I'm sure, might even catch a house fire (seem to get one around...

    Moose Hunting 101

I second HankBuck and AimSmall suggestion on Newfoundland. There are more moose there than people on the Rock. Here are the other two types I received, the Trophy Bonded Sledgehammer, and the Woodleigh Weldcore. The diameter of each is .422, and they all weigh 400gr. Old School Buffalo Hunting With BAYLY SIPPEL SAFARIS In 2024

I hunted with Dempsey, Michael and their team in 2022 for plains game. I had a fantastic time, and they made sure I had an authentic African experience. I learned so much from the team, (tracking specifically) I am really hoping to return to them in 2025 for a Buffalo of my own.

    Leupold VX-4.5HD SERVICE RIFLE 1-4.5X24 CDS-ZL2 FireDot Bull-Ring

    Leupold VX-4.5HD SERVICE RIFLE 1-4.5X24 CDS-ZL2 FireDot Bull-Ring

The authorities in Canada don't care what gets mailed to me, as long as they get their taxes out of it first. The same scopes are sold here, but at a much inflated rate. It's the U.S. authorities that will stop a scope at the border. Something about a lighted reticle gets their panties in a...

    Leupold VX-4.5HD SERVICE RIFLE 1-4.5X24 CDS-ZL2 FireDot Bull-Ring

Yes, BeeMaa, I know what I want; 1-4, 1-5 or 1-6 magnification range, a simple set of crosshairs ( I really like the German #4) and a lighted reticle of some kind. I don't want junk, but cannot afford the top of the line either. Something mid range or better than mid range if on sale. This seems...

    Leupold VX-4.5HD SERVICE RIFLE 1-4.5X24 CDS-ZL2 FireDot Bull-Ring

Thanks for the reply, and your opinion mdwest. The simple answer of why I'm looking at the VX4.5 is availability and economics. The VX4.5 can be had for $1300-$1400 CDN, used, (depending on my negotiating skills) There is a VX5 1-5x new, available in Alberta, but will be $2200 CDN by the time...

    Leupold VX-4.5HD SERVICE RIFLE 1-4.5X24 CDS-ZL2 FireDot Bull-Ring

Hi All, I'm trying to figure out if this scope might be suitable on a Dangerous Game rifle - specifically my BRNO ZKK 602 chambered in .404 Jeffery. My main concern would be durability. Would this scope stand up to the rigours of the .404 Jeffery recoil? The magnification seems about right...

What's the next cartridge your looking to add to your collection and what role will it fill?

I'm not stuck on any particular caliber, but it will for sure be a small bore double rifle of some kind. Maybe in 7 or 8mm, a 9.3, or if I could find one in .303 British, that would really get me to crack open my wallet.

Am I being scammed? Import into Toronto

I did the same thing in 2018, Windhoek to Toronto, did it all myself. I too incurred additional storage fees because of CBSA issues.
