I've hunted Moose in Newfoundland twice and unfortunately, I'm 0-2. I had a great outfitter, a great guide (who did all he could) with a great lodge, but he was operating on easily accessible public land. If I go back, I'll look at Arluk Outfitters. Good luck with your quest.

I've had the best luck with Varget and 250-grain Barnes TSX & TTSX and Swift A-frames. I have a Forbes 24B that I had rebarreled by Douglas. I consider it my most useful rifle and would be my choice for a single rifle for plains game with expected shots around 200 yards.

I have on in .458 Lott. It's been discussed on AH that the stock can be a bit of a weak point due to splitting. I'm actually having it fitted with a McMillan stock at the moment. The stock I have is fine, but I prefer synthetic.

I took my first Buffalo with a .416 Ruger Guide Gun. I settled on a 400-grain TSX backed up by Power Pro 2000-MR. I eventually put it into an H-S Precision stock. I absolutely love that rifle and would not fear taking it for anything.
