How effective is the 25-06 with either of these bullets?

@Finprof - I guess the “both” the South Carolina Hunters that own a .25-06 —-can actually shoot them accurately. I like the .25-06 but it’s Not a common caliber in any area vs. 30-30, .30-06, .308, .270, and buckshot or slugs.

How effective is the 25-06 with either of these bullets?

OK, I haven’t noticed problems with well placed shots at ranges 300 yrds and under….never took any Head Shots …Sounds like an assassination — and one messy job for the taxidermist to clean up.

How effective is the 25-06 with either of these bullets?

@FlyGuy - well if any bullet is placed “Between the Eyes” wouldn’t You expect similar results? I shoot a .25-06 and would Also expect good things to happen with a .25-06 bullet hitting the Heart-Lung-Liver area…any .223 between the Eyes can work too but how often are Hunters aiming “Between the...

Alaskan Brown Bear - Close Quarters Encounter - Lessons Learned

@Wyfox: good video and good hunt, they saw a lot. I can’t 2nd guess any of their decisions because just “one well placed shot” would’ve made all the difference.…I was surprised that at 200 yards away that Bear even SAW the girl walking, their eyesight sucks and the girl was in an over grown...

How effective is the 25-06 with either of these bullets?

@CBH Australia: I just like to Hunt with my own gear and not just because I’m familiar with it and handle it well - it becomes part of the memory and “history” of those items and might mean something to those that inherit them later (a Story to tell). Also, don’t get too hung up on needing...

How effective is the 25-06 with either of these bullets?

@Tbitty - I don’t want to “rent” a rifle from my PH or borrow his Underwear — prefer my own…it adds to the experience to use my own equipment. But, in a ”pinch” I might borrow an extra pair of jockey briefs sz 36.

How effective is the 25-06 with either of these bullets?

@crudeoildude: I am surprised by that and especially for the past 15-20 years with the excellent factory ammo and Swift A-frame, TSX bullets for deeper penetration or the Hornady Superformance & sierra gameking for rapid expansion. But I’m Not a hand loader and satisfied with any sub inch MOA...

Heavy Recoil lead shot in stock?

@Just a dude in BC — Funny, “easier then YOU think” but I’m a LOT WORSE in my Gunsmithing skills then YOU THINK

    shooting 375 H/H

@grand veneur: the affects of recoil are cummulative and with enough shooting - can negatively affect anyone, some more then others. Thants why nobody shoots 200-300 practice rounds thru their .375/.416+ in a day at the range the way they might with a .223. A good light/crisp trigger can help...

Heavy Recoil lead shot in stock?

@Just a dude in BC - I might “drill” into a cheap wood-Mossberg stock but Not any rifle I cared about….but then again I’m Not qualified to do any Gun Smithing work

    shooting 375 H/H

@grand veneur - I’ve read (don’t recall Authors name) that most Rifle shooters will be negatively affected by recoil above .30-06. I believe that is true and have discussed with several guys I hunt and shoot with - one disagreed and bragged about how his .300 Win mag recoil does “Not bother...

Heavy Recoil lead shot in stock?

@Sharing246 - without knowing “what You are shooting” (shotgun, rifle??) I agree with others, try Low Recoil rounds made for some rifle calibers. If shotgun - lowest velocity & lightest shot charge made for that gauge. Adding some lead shot in the stock could be helpful - it’s got to be in...

    shooting 375 H/H

@Luvthunt - I get the strategy but if —-IF you develop a “flinch” from all that .416 shooting (very possible) then you’re negatively affected and very difficult to UNlearn a flinch.

    shooting 375 H/H

@BeeMaa agree - Get Your OWN RIFLE…and even think with some luck—he can find good Used .375 for around $2000 and Good (Not great) low power scope (Leupold 1.5-5) for $500 (then sell the rig for about the same upon his return). It he’s already a rifle shooter with average experience and basic...

    Hats on safari

@jnotzon - definitely a very different Safari look, maybe a touch-of-class rarely seen in the African bush… and with both those hats you are “set” for multiple opportunities ie: drive a Ferrari or paint a Rembrandt !
